| How to Order |
Below is a study of a hand that I carve in my classes. I use a 1" x 1 1/2" basswood stick to practice on. In my early days of carving you would never catch me without a practice stick in my pocket. The tools I use to carve this ear are a #3 1/2" Gouge, 1/8" VTool, 3/16" VTool, , 1/4" Veiner and my knife.

Steps to carving a Hand
I usually finish the hand with the white bristle disk sanding disks made by Foredom. It gives the carving a softer look but does not remove the knife and gouge marks.
Remember. The more you practice the better your hands will get. There is no magic. Just lots of practice. |
